Bobbi Marlene's Story
Life
My Pets
I had a German Shepherd dog named "Paddy" (or Patrick), was black and tan and very, very smart, but he has passed on now, I really miss him, he was 14 years old at his passing.I may get another dog, probably a German Shepherd, sometime in the future. Also had a cat, a flat-faced Persian named "Pansey", because her face looks like a pansey flower, she was black and brown tortishell, smokey dark color. She passed away four years ago at about 15 years of age.
Recently I acquired another cat, a "Scottish Fold-Highlander" from a Spainish speaking family. He was not used to hearing English and my Spainish is VERY limited! It is getting better, he is quicker at learning English than I am at learning Spainish!
My Job
I do my own painings, which are a style
called "hard-edge realism" and enter them in competions, sell them through a local gallery and sell them on e-Bay.I really enjoy selling on e-Bay in the Fine Art: Paintings category. E-Bay is a great way to reach out acrossed the country with my paintings and reach people that I otherwise would not be able to reach. It's great exposure!
In 1999 I was a part of a group of Nebraska Artists that were chosen to do this project called "The J. Doe Project". We all had sponsors ( Thank you Rich and Frannie from "No-Frills Foods" in Omaha)
We were to paint or reconstruct,...Expand for more
to the specifications of a design that we had already submitted, these 6 foot-tall fiber-glass figures called:"J. Doe". I called my "Produce R. Doe" and covered it in painted images of fruits and vegetables, as you would see in the produce-aisle. NOW---I had come up with that idea and theme WITHOUT a sponser! No-Frills was not a part of the picture at that time, they picked up on it AFTER they saw my design. It travesl around to all of their stores and can usually be found in the Produce Aisle...WHAT ELSE??!
You can see some photos of my J.Doe figure if you Google my name: Bobbi Baltzer-Jacobo, or Google the J.Doe Project, Omaha, Nebraska, then scroll to my name on the lists of Artists.
College
Going to UNO was a good experience for me. I learned alot, could have learned more..."Youth is wasted on the young!"But
I am glad I went and Graduated. I find that it increased my
curiousity to learn more.It broadened my prespective on Art in particular and the world in general.Because of that I spent a summer in Ireland and Europe with friends from UNO.
One person that sticks in my mind from there is NBC Anchorman Tom Brokraw who was a graduate student in Journalism there and on regular campus TV!
Also saw alot of former Tech students there!Got to know some that graduated before me that I wouldn't have otherwise
met or known.
